Silkie with too much fluff

Hey everyone,

My lovely little silkie seems to be too fluffy for her own good. The feathers around her vent have collected poop. I can be sure that her vent itself isn't blocked but there's a clump of feathers below it glued solid. We've tried to soften it and cut it off but it is very hard and our silkie protests to it. Any ideas on how to clean it up and trim her vent feathers without traumatizing her so she can go back to comfortably sitting on eggs?

I would keep trying with a wet washcloth and just dab at it trying to soften it, and get off as much as possible. Just be careful her vent doesn't get blocked. Maybe cut some of the other vent feathers that aren't dirty yet shorter, to prevent them from getting dirty. Best wishes!

Hmm if she doesn't protest too much, maybe give her a quick short warm bath, and than blow dry her, so she doesn't get dirty or cold.
