I had a silkie rooster that got crooked neck/wry neck when he was a couple of months old. I followed Dr Alan Stanford's recommendations that I found on the forum https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=4389864 and he recovered completely. I had the predisone already because I had a dog w/ back problems but I understand most vets, if you explain the situation, will help you out.
It took over a week to see any difference and I was started to lose hope. It took about a month for him to totally recover. So be patient (I know everyone says that and its hard)
He slept inside, by himself the entire time, and it was hard for him to integrate back into the group... I was so afraid that someone was going to peck his head and I would watch him super close as I slowly started allowing him back with everyone. He never really re-gained his "status" and was kind of a loner. ... but he absolutely LOVED me -- I guess all that time on my lap and inside and all that special attention made him just crazy about people. He still has a very
very special place in my heart!
