Silkie with twisted neck HELP

I had a silkie rooster that got crooked neck/wry neck when he was a couple of months old. I followed Dr Alan Stanford's recommendations that I found on the forum https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=4389864 and he recovered completely. I had the predisone already because I had a dog w/ back problems but I understand most vets, if you explain the situation, will help you out.

It took over a week to see any difference and I was started to lose hope. It took about a month for him to totally recover. So be patient (I know everyone says that and its hard)

He slept inside, by himself the entire time, and it was hard for him to integrate back into the group... I was so afraid that someone was going to peck his head and I would watch him super close as I slowly started allowing him back with everyone. He never really re-gained his "status" and was kind of a loner. ... but he absolutely LOVED me -- I guess all that time on my lap and inside and all that special attention made him just crazy about people. He still has a very

I wanted to mention that I hunting for Poly Visol without iron for 2 days. I went to 3 Walmarts and don;t know how many Walgreens and Rite-Aids. Check smaller RX and then as I was driving past the mall I saw a Babies R Us! I could find it with iron, but that was the only place I found it without,

Just thought I'd give an option of another place to look.

BTW only took 2 douses to until it didn't happen again and it's been 2 weeks now and her babies all act fine.

Yes, you'll want to bring her in, wash all the poop off her butt--I trim all around their bottom and then put vaseline or A & D ointment(medicated kind) on there to help the poopy not stick. You don't have to buy chick feed. You can take chicken pellets, wet them, and make a mash. Just make sure you throw any leftovers away and give fresh mash every day as it will spoil after 24 hours or so. Good luck!

Than You for this post. I have a 5-6 month old Silkie who is the family favorite that started doing this tonight. She is walking backwards and twisting her head completely upside down and kinda wiping her face on the ground or burying her face down. She has me so confused. I am reading so much on the wry neck but it just doesn't seem to fit. I also was thinking sour crop because she seemed to have a water like crop but that is going down. Just could not figure it out. My 2 silkies free range with the big chickens and do pretty well. This might be the issue... Ill do dome more reading on Silkies. Thanks
