I'm not sure about the gender of this chick. I always thought rooster but his brother (definitely a rooster) has such a more prominent comb and wattles. Help? Oh and they are about 5 1/2 weeks old!

Here is the question chick. This is Drew!

Okay now here's my definite rooster! This is Leroy!

Thanks.

He was Jenna but I renamed him a few days ago to be Drew! Haha.
I hope you are right. The definite girls have such a smaller comb than him. But his comb is staying a pullet's color. and no wattle coloring either

I'm honestly wondering if the comb looks less pronounced on Drew is because Drew has more of a crest than Leroy does....Leroy has a few spare hairs for a crest while drew has a decent little crest going on that is covering the comb...

I am honestly going to say - Rooster.

My vote (and my 5 y/o son's

) is for pullet, we have several little cochin/silkie mixes running around the yard, and he's pretty good at telling them

ETA that the crest wouldn't have much effect on the comb, since the comb appears to be a modified straight comb. With pure silkies, except for exceptional quality birds, the males usually don't have much of a crest.

what a cute mix <3 I think it looks a little more like a pullet (it appears a tiny bit daintier -to me)...but it may still be a little young to tell for sure.

Thanks.

Lol your 5 year old son sounds adorable. You are right- roos don't get that big of crests! I forgot about that. That's another thing that yells pullet.
