Hi I am new to this forum and first time my Silkie has gone broody.Im sure we are between day 20/22 of her sitting initially there were 7 eggs and now only 4 she ate 3 Throughout she has refused any food and would not move the only thing I’ve got her to eat is fresh corn and I have to put it to her.She has now not moved for two days and becomes really aggressive if you try and touch her to check .Ive noticed this morning wetness in the coop in front of her and have no idea if this is from her or the eggs have hatched or she has eaten them .Advice what to do please I’ve searched google and chicken manuals but there is so much different information and I don’t want to do thanks

I’ve just gone out and she has moved there is a hatched egg with a dead chick attached to it it is tiny and think it must have died before today as still yolk in the egg I have moved it and cleared the wet shavings off the floor but the silkie got up and started pecking her other eggs I noticed one of them has a small crack but I’m not sure if this is one trying to hatch or my silkie has done it, there is also slime round her mouth so I think she may have cracked the dead egg open,Ive no idea what to do now she is sat on the remaining 3

Hi, i would let her settle down, i had this problem and i shut the door and she soon settled down and sat back on her eggs, if she still continues to break the eggs after a minute or 2 take the eggs out and place them in an incubator if you have one

Hi thanks she has settled again just hope the other three hatch soon and she doesn’t eat them.I never realised how traumatic it would be,I just expected my silkie to do everything
