Silkies and Eggs

I had a silkie hen laying on 5 eggs for about 3 weeks. I walked in 1 day and all of the eggs GONE. No remenants of them or anything. I haven't the foggiest idea what happened. Any ideas?

Strange, it might be a predator but since you said there are no remnants..... This is truly a odd situation.

Snakes and rats can take eggs without breakage.
Was the broody still sitting on nest?
"about 3 weeks"?
Had you candled eggs at all to see if they were developing?

We considered a snake but 5 eggs? Haven't seen rates anywhere. Did not do the candle test.

Wonders of she moved the eggs, or abandoned nest leaving it open for preds or other birds to move eggs??
