Here in Northern California we have an unfortunate grass referred to as a Foxtail Weed. I know it can be very harmful to dogs when it becomes lodged in their nose, ears or feet but can find no information about it's potential harm to chickens. Specifically silkies with their extra fluffy foot feathers.
I have a chicken tractor I would like to put to use free ranging the girls but am concerned about the abundance of foxtails on my property.

Foxtails are a problem for anything with fluff and skin, really. You probably won’t find them stuck into their feet like a dog (I could be wrong) but I HAVE seen posts of chickens with giant swollen eye abscesses that were caused by foxtails.
