Silkies are dropping like flies

Someone that had used ivermectin posted a few months ago and said that their necropsy found moderate numbers of large roundworms and cecal worms were found.

Yes...a number of areas have found resistance to Ivermectin, due to overuse in the worm population....EDITED to add internal worm....Ivermectin still is really good for bad Northern Fowl Mite infestations which can quickly drain a flock.

I use it strictly for external parasites, including lice.

...which leads back to the problem at hand.

A Northern Fowl Mite or roost mite infestation could very well leave birds so anemic they die...at night on roost may indicate a bad infestation of external parasites coming out at night to feed.

If it is not heat or cold exposure, it could be anemia.

Last thought...coccidiosis can cause huddled lethargy, but usually that is in younger birds, and usually, but not always, there is blood in someone's stool.

My thoughts
