Hi, I have 3 month old PUREBREAD silkies chickens and one is small and the 2 others are bigger, they are all the same age and and suppose to be brothers and sisters(I'm not sure yet what gender they are) the small one is definitely a silkie but they 2 others don't look like silkies? Does it have somthing to do with weather they are male or female? I will post a picture later

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Silkies are difficult to sex until they are much older. Usually you have to wait until they crow or lay an egg. Here is the Silkies thread if you want to share pics, tell stories or ask questions about your Silkies...

Enjoy your babies and welcome to our flock!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! TwoCrows and Mountain Peeps gave you some good links to post pictures in. Male and Female Silkies look pretty much alike, especially when young, so your other two may be mixed breeds.

I was told they were purebread and we had them special ordered so they were purebread silkies, but they could be mixed breeds. Thanks for all the help

If they are from a hatchery, they generally are not up to breed standards. They can be oversized, poor or incorrect feathering., lacking the black skin, walnut combs, 5 toes -or feathered feet etc.

Or the two that look different could be mixed breed. Buyers really do have to beware - buying from anyone or business they don't know.

If you post some clear, close up pictures we can see if they really seem to be silkies.
