Silkies & Dark Brahmas - 3 HATCHED. Happy Ending :)

Day 5 candling for these guys have revealed that both of the Dark Brahmas are developing and at least 2 of the Silkies are developing. There are 2 I am unsure of, but I think they are developing. 1 looks as though it was perhaps infertile. Won't open it until Day 10 just in case.

Will try and get a good candling pic later tonight.

This is one of the Dark Brahma eggs. Very nicely visible embryo.

All the rest of the embryos are hidden behind their air cells. But I was able to verify that 3 Silkie eggs are growing, 1 I'm still unsure of, and 1 that looked infertile actually has a loose air bubble floating around in there. I assume that means the post office was rather rough on the box and broke its air cell. At least the rest of them came through intact!

Resistance is futile...if only Luke would have come over to the darkside, imagie how much fun he could have had!!!

Thanks for the picture! I am on day 6 and I candled yesterday so now I know that they are developing okay!

Just adding to the Borg discussion - notice my little chick Borg avatar. Welcome to the collective. I have the Borg queen (a Australorp named Sheila - I know it's a corny aussie name) sitting on a bunch of new drones right now myself! Good luck with your hatch!

PurpleChicken's eeeevil laugh was appropriate.

No problem on the pic, CANDLE98. Glad it helped you!

I am so glad everything is going well with the babies!

I hate to hear about the tiny bubbles in one. Sometimes I just wonder how many conveyor belts they are dropped from.

I'm pleased.

The one with the loose air bubble won't ever develop, right? So it should be OK to remove it from the bator?

It is not out of the question...there is no hurry. I have 18 silkie eggs (that traveled a really long distance) right now with tiny air bubbles everywhere

. They are on day 7 and a couple are actually trying to make a go of it. So for now, they stay.

I am fairly new at this shipped egg business but I have read alot. I hope someone else will be able to give you more advice.
