Silkies do you trim or pluck?

My silkies are getting bigger and some are having a problem seeing. My question is do you trim around their eyes or pluck the feathers. If I wanted to show them I don't want to mess up their looks. Also how much can I remove.

Or is there a another way. I've thought about using small rubber bands.

I have a roo that I just cut the poof off of and it has never grown back. I don't want this to happen with my show stock.

Any pics would be would be great.

we trim after shows, plucked feathers grew back in a few weeks.

The crest should grow back after a molt. Plucked feathers regrow immediately, cut feathers not until a molt.

You can use pink hair tape to hold the crest into a small ponytail atop the head.

As long as you cut only those feathers that actually block vision, trimming shouldn't be a problem.
