Silkie's head covered in mites

So far, so good. It seems that the combination Vaseline on the head (not very pretty!) and Sevin powder killed the monsters. Q-Tip looks better.
We asked her breeder, Christina from TouchWood Silkies, what she thought and she suggested bathing the bird in Adams Flee and tick shampoo, that it works great for them. If someone knows how to wash a chicken... Pleeeease tell me! I don't think she's going to like it, especially that the mites are on her head... Is there a risk of drowning her or doing something terribly bad to her? I am thinking about filling the sink with warm water with shampoo in it, and dunking the chicken in the water and then adding some shampoo and rinsing with the spray from the sink. How do you do it?

I go in my garage and fill a small tub with warm water. I have a second tub with warm water and some washcloths. I then put the chicken in the water and gently pour the water over her. Then get some of the shampoo and get it on the washcloth and gently scrub the chicken. Get a soft toothbrush and scrub her head. Rinse with the clean water from the second tub. Then take her out of the water and lightly dry her off. Then blow-dry her feathers on warm with low air speed.
