I have 2 Silkie pullets and it is obvious that one outweighs the other. They will be 5 months old Sept 10. When the smaller one was about 5 weeks old, her neck was injured. I think her head must have been stepped on by our Cornish Cross Rooster. We noticed her that same day and confined her so she could recover. We had to hand feed her, she couldn't move her neck...it was kinda squished down between her shoulders. She is still behind in weight gain and spoiled rotten. She just seems to be "slower" than the other one. Therefore my husband calls them Dumb and Dumber, but he does love them. When he comes out in the yard, she actually walks up and stops in front of him so he will pick her up. When she gets in trouble with our RIRs, if we are in the yard, she comes squawking and running for us to protect her...and we do. I guess she is our new "baby". She gets fed at bedtime, unlike everyone else, trying to help her catch up.

She sounds really nice , you could give her high protein treats to help her along , cottage cheese, tuna, crickets ,

I watched my silkie rooster catch then drop at least 8 crickets last night and call the girls over to eat , it really is amazing to watch him guard and feed them , just doing his job !

We have 3 hens and just added a rooster this summer , this is Carlos & Carol, the black ones (not in picture), are much smaller

Well the big Silkie (aka Dumb) let out a crow this morning...I thought I had two pullets. Not sure my RIRs will take him serious at all, lol.:idunno See more about this event in my thread "Clucking Around with the Chickens"

From the crowing coming out of the beak of the bigger one yesterday, I am quite sure I have a Rooster and a Pullet.:yaQuick change of plans, maybe we will hatch some eggs. :idunno
