I have a silkie and she does great in hot weather, here in Southeastern NM we usually are in the high 90s to 100sWelcome to Backyard Chickens. I don't know if silkies can survive Texas heat. There is a variety of silkie called SHOWGIRLS, (Silkie x Necked Neck) a little exotic looking that seem to handle hot weather better than silkies do.
