Silkies in Winter

Oh, I hope so, too! I only have 2. I ended up with one of each. Love them sooooo much! I can have roos, so I decided to keep him. That was NOT what I'd planned, but it's working out fine so far.

Does anyone here keep silkies in a place that has very cold winters? We are considering moving next year to somewhere that is very cold compared to where we currently are. I love my silkies but don’t want to bring them if they won’t do well...

Yes, they can, but they don't want

Make them a lean-to or somewhere they can shelter from the rain outside the coop. The quick easy of this would be to modify a pallet by drilling or nailing on some legs and covering any gaps in the boards. Your ramp may be a bit too slick for them when it's wet - you may find them huddled under it for shelter. Additional spacers or 'grip-tape' may help. If they aren't trying to shelter at all, that would be a problem.

I live in one of the coldest states in the U.S. Temps last year got down to -25/-30. I have all silkies and they all survived in a draft free coop without heat.
