Why would my 3 silkie hens stop laying. We have not changed thier food. I got a total of 16 or so eggs over a two month time. Do silkies not lay on schedule?[IMG]

It could possibly just be do to the sunlight; chickens need 14 hours of sunlight to be in "egglaying mode." Some do continue to lay when the daylight hours are shorter, but many do not. I wouldn't worry. It's nature's way of giving their egg-laying machinery a break.

I just read (googled) that silkies can go broody after as few as 16 lays!!!

Could that be possible for your girls?
