Silkies laying at 6 months? Is that normal?

I searched it up on the internet, but in all the responses I found they were supposed to start during 7-9 months...I don't know if my hens are ultra-fertilised, a month older than I think they are (unlikely) or inbred!

Does this mean they will stop laying eggs earlier, too? Also, does anyone know when light sussexes should start laying? Just out of curiosity, though I don't think mine will anytime soon...

just means you're taking good care of them most chickens will come into lay between 16 to 24 weeks and it really is better for them to start after 21 weeks. My silkies started @ 22 weeks an egg every couple of days now they lay one a day just like pullets should.
