SILKIES New Colors BEIGE and BOBTAIL

Those are so pretty! I met someone at a chicken show a while back who had the most beautiful bluish cream colored silkie, with a little penciling. I wish I had gotten a picture, I can't find anything similar online and the woman said it was just a color she was working on.
Hi Molly! Are you talking about this color? I saved this picture, I do not remember where..that's called blue cream, what in Usa refers to this name? that's a very nice color

Those are absolutely gorgeous! :love

I just found out about bobtail cochins recently and though it was such a cute color and I'd love to see it in silkies! Bravo making that happen!!!! :D
Thanks Lynnae! I have to say that the color is not a stable, few birds are in standard..there is another way to make a similar phenotype, using another color much more stable.

Oh interesting! I tried looking up more about the color and most of it went right over my head! It seemed like it had some interesting genetics going on though and wasn't too well understood yet by those discussing it in the thread I found either. A way to make a similar phenotype that is more stable sounds promising! :)

sorry for late reply but yes it was a bit like that! I recently found a breeder who has something that looks pretty close, she calls it porcelain. I remember the silkie looking a bit like this (found this on google under "porcelain silkie"), but I think with a bit more color and more blue mixed in. wish I had some with this color, so pretty!

May I ask what your findings were as regards to the genetics behind the bobtail colour? I am hoping to put this into brahmas. Am planing on using male bobtails because of them carrying the recessive white in double dose as opposed to the females? X
