Silkies Of A Different Color

Thanks for the reply! Will it turns out "she" is really a he!! This morning he was crowing

also was told by another breeder that he is a silver partridge. I'm really hoping he stays a quiet rooster or I'm going to re-home him

he is so friendly!!!!
No, he's not a silver (or any other) partridge. Has silver ground, and may have grey in its background, but it isn't grey. Looks something between columbian and black crested white. I have a similar hen, although her body has more white than yours does.

With the red coming in on the shoulders and wings, Emma is likely an Emile.

And yes, splash plus red is the original calico.

Noooooooo!!!!!!
I hatched out 12 chicks from ordered sizzle eggs and she was one of only 3 that I thought were girls :(....
Bummer!!! Looks like I have two posible girls and 10!!!! Boys.

Thanks for the calico info!! if I decide to start a pen for them I would be able to safely call them calico splash then :)
If i start a pen for them i was going to add a partridge to the pen both for splash and blue partridge. in the future generations.
but your saying only the boys would have the red patches, and girls little to no red patches?
Just a light red haze in the chest, just like in autosomal red/ in silver partridge?
So that begs the question is the red in the splash really autosomal red? And not partridge (gold) calico splash?

ok,
i have a chocolate genetics question, that i'm hoping someone can help with...
this is what i'm thinking is a chocolate silkie hen i bought her as an egg from someone else's silkies and he said he did have chocolates in his project. i mated her with the purest black silkie rooster i could find and got 7 lovely solid black chicks. about 7-8 weeks old now, 4 boys and 3 girls i think?
i'm thinking that means choc gene not dun.
my question is what are the chances that her sons will carry the chocolate gene??? will ALL of her sons be split to chocolate, 50%of the boy be split, 25%?? if its only 25% would it be easier to just start over with a chocolate non silkie rooster with her, and then breed back to get more silkie features??

ok i have a little smooth sizzle chick that i hatched out. i am thinking her color is salmon?? maybe?? any ideas?

also what color is this chick?? i was thinking like a blue grey? ( blue silver/partridge)
