Silkies Of A Different Color

Are the pics on here or did you mean you had some at the show?

I brought a couple of breeder cockerals to Shawnee. An F2 to deliver and an F1 if I had found someone who was serious about working on them. Neither have silkie feathering, and the F1 is a lot farther from type and traits than the F2. The khaki is the oldest of my F3s, and I showed him at Shawnee--way too young, but I wanted feedback, and I got a ton of favourable comments--even Eric Kutch said he really liked the colour and where I am at with him.

WOW! That is amazing to see such a HUGE difference in just one generation! SOOO COOL! Thanks for posting them and keep up the good work!

Oh wow! TY for the pics! I was surprised when you said the one at Shawnee was only an F3. Then again when you consider the quality of the stock they're being bred back to, I guess it's not such a surprise.

It's like what Betsy was telling me about bringing in from different lines. As long as I get them from good ones, I should be okay.

The chocolate/khaki has actually been far easier to integrate than I would have expected. The F2s were quite variable in type, and Lil Peeps has the best cockeral from that generation. I did try to pair with the best possible silkies. My mottled project has taken more than twice that many generations to get to about the same point on type. Note that for the chocolates, I am counting generations since breeding in the chocolate polish, not counting my original chocolate-coloured silkies, although I have certainly used them.

I started to post this on a new list/thread but decided maybe some of you ladies can help since this is regarding "silkies of a different color"

I hatched these guys out of a project pen and there are 3 birds total with this funky *white on white* coloration. Their color is strange to me but they also have an interesting 'eye color' as well...it's extremely light. Posting pics of what I believe to be a young man, and the other 2 I believe are pullets. He was born an odd color for a white and as he's matured the last few weeks the color change is even a more obvious. Is this by chance what's considered a Pearl, OR is he just a weird white? Any info on him would be most appreciated. I would also like to view pics of what a true Pearl Silkie looks like. Hope someone can help with this

Thanks for taking the time...

Hey all, I was hoping for some help/opinions. I hatched this guy out of eggs that I got on E-bay. They said there would be mixed colors, but I never expected this! lol What color is it? Sorry for all the pics, just wanted you all to get a good look.
