Silkies Of A Different Color

Ah ha, thank you. Chicken color genetics is quite the learning curve! For me anyway

suze what colour is this to me it looks like partridge ontop of splash i have never seen anything like it
LL
I certainly see the splash, but the bird as a whole doesn't look partridge. (head and neck do, but not the rest of the bird) I'd hazard a guess that it has part, but not all of the partridge genotype. If it's still young, I'd be interested in seeinh how it's feathered out in a couple of months.

Would we assume its from the splash hen? The grey hen is from a blue/splash pen I believe. I'll be sure to post a picture in a few months if we still have them.

Treatsrule are you talking about my rooster? If so, thank you very much! I am very proud of him and think he is pretty special. I think I have seen similar colors called tortoiseshell.

I do too TreatsRule! They are my favorites actually. If it is considered a "project" pen count me IN !!!! I love all the unusual colors, but the tri-colored and quad-colored silkies just make me drool!

Here is another of my non-accepted colors, a paint baby (I'm calling her "she" - trying to think positive though it has caused a debate in the silkie thread - Ha! Ha!):

And a lavender baby next to her here.

This is Cocoa and I call her chocolate though that is probably not a correct term if there is one. Her body is a dark chocolate color and her beard and petticoat fluff is a lighter milk chocolate color. Does anyone know what color or colors would be best to breed her if I wanted to continue working on this. I really love it!
