Silkies Of A Different Color

Anyone have an idea what this color is? Is this blue-red? He's out of a white silkie hen and - SUPPOSEDLY - a red-brown 'purebreed' Ameraucana. Well, he's silkie feathered, even if his flesh is white, so I doubt her roo wasn't a mix, even if she swears to god she bought him from a reputable breeder! Has anyone heard of a 'pure' Ameraucana carrying the silkie feather gene? Either way, he's sure interesting looking!
He looks like a blue partridge mix to me? I was thinking about adding some silkie Ameraucanas to my flock this last year and from the small bit of resurch I did the silkie feathering on the americanas are NOT form breeding silkie to Americana but a naturally accruing gene. making them not a cross but pure breed Americana with silkie feathers. Same goes for silkie seramas. So your babies might have a dose of silkie gene from the pure breed Americana and your white silkie hen. Since your hens a blue and he's very dark blue, best guess is you have a blue partridge roo:)

heres pictures of my partridge roo, the little guy just started crowing last week:) thought he would be good to compare color wise? and his sister ( hopefully girl) is the blue partridge hiding with a little lavender in the bottom pic.

My first chicken of a different color. They come from my Partridge Pullet and Columbian Boy.
The right one I believe is a blue one and the other one I think either is a Partridge (don`t have the chipmunk stripes) or a chocolate one.

This boy is unrelated to my other silkies - his mom is a white silkie and dad is a red-brown ameraucana. I know partridge isn't an official ameraucana color (people keep telling me, if it's partridge, it's an easter egger)... so does that mean he got the partridge color from mom (maybe she's partridge under the 'white'?)

Also, because someone said he didn't look like the pictured ameraucana blue-red... remember that he is only 3mo, so he's still changing, I think.

Oh, yes, that *does* look a lot like my young boy. The second photo especially. The girl at the bottom - looks way lighter than either of my chickens. Hmm. Does that mean mine are strait partridge, and not blue-partridge?

Does anyone have a photo of a blue-red silkie rooster for comparison as well? I can't seem to find a photo.

Blue can come in many shades, almost as dark as black and light as lavender. From your photo I would guess partridge or very dark blue partridge. But its hard to tell for sure in pictures. And your right the partridge can be from the white hens side of the family. But also from your Americana people are always lumping them with ee's so it's hard to get a straight answer no matter how regrettable they seem.
You might have a hard time finding rare breed silkies. Not very many people working on them. And most people don't like shareing photos until they're just right.

Are they the same age? The blue looks so much larger - very pretty babies!!!
