Silkies Of A Different Color

When I started my Sizzle project, I used a buff Silkie rooster and a black frizzled Cochin hen. I hatched around 15 chicks from that pair, and every single one of them was black (or blue) as hatchlings. There was gold and red leakage of varying degrees on most of them when they feathered out. I still have one of my first gens, she's a great brood hen. I suspect she carries partridge and blue. When I've paired her up with a black rooster, she's given me black and blue chicks. When put with a splash rooster I have, I get partridge chicks and some splash looking chicks that are feathering in almost a khaki and blue color.
I don't know about paint Silkies, I don't breed those :)

Just wanted to share my silkie of a different color. Unfortunately, I have no idea of her parentage as I bought her at a swap. I like to call her mocha partridge

So the chicks hatched from my buff / black pairing and I got 1 black chick and 1 buff / grey chick and 2 grey partidge! You just never know what you will get! Genetics are funny and surprising that way! I am glad that I took the chance and I tried something new!

They sound fabulous (hint, hint: We REALLY love pictures ;) ).

I kept back one of those "khaki and blue" chicks that I hatched from my flock. Its turned into a very lovely buff and blue frizzled Sizzle. I'm not sure what color to call it, its not blue partridge, no penciling anywhere. I suspect its a throwback from the buff rooster I used to start my Sizzle project. I also suspect someone in my B/B/S pen is throwing white. I've gotten a ton of chicks that looked splash as fluff balls (silvery/blue cast) and not a single one of them has any splashes yet. One of them is about 5 months old and is still all white :/
I need to post some pics of mine that aren't a standard color, especially my little buff/blue chick, but theyre not too fond of me or my camera!

Here are my mixed coloured chicks! I think I have a few partridges! One has a grey body and a buff swirl on its head! So cool!

They're cuties! I love the one above the black and in between the light chipmunky ones. Super adorable. Post pics when they grow up so we can see how they turn out
