Silkies Of A Different Color

400

Hi everyone. I have a colour-crossing question. I’m doing this just for fun. I have two beautiful silkie roosters. One is a bearded silver partridge and the other is a bearded red roo. The colours of my silkie hens that I am breeding to them are as follows...paint, black and splash. I’m wondering if I put my red roo with my splash hen, would that create calico? What kind of crazy colour would the red roo and the paint hens create? Finally, I was thinking of pairing the silver partridge roo with my black girls. Has anyone bred any of these colour combos? Such fun!

Wondering if you made your planned crosses? Looks like not much traffic on this thread since 2017. I have a white cockerel that I will be crossing with white, blue partridge and splash girls. They are all still young, so probably won't see any chicks until Spring. :)

Here are some of the outcomes...I only used the red silkie roo with the hens. I just looove the partridge that came from the red roo crossed with my black hens. I have a beautiful white outlet from the red roo and a paint hen, as well as some beautiful paints. I’ll have to take a pic of a beautiful blue partridge pulley from the red roo with my splash hen. They all have full crests, nice beards and nicely feathered feet. Super happy!!

I love the Polish in your avatar btw! I have silver laced polish. And have some Tolbunt grow outs. I also have two golden laced/Tolbunt split hens. Tolbunt is the ONE breed I’ve wanted in forever but are so very hard to find in Canada. So this coming hatching season should be pretty exciting😊

They are gorgeous! :love What a nice mix of colors! Wonder what genetics were at play for you to get the blue partridge chick from the red roo and splash hen. Love to see photos!

I just have two white crested black pullets, 13 weeks old. They are the funniest chickens with the quirkiest personalities! I love the tolbunts. They are beautiful!
I may cross my polish to my silkie boy as well.😊
My silkies are 19 weeks old right now.
