Silkies Of A Different Color

Pics
On the red pyles, there is a wheaten based pyle. males are similar but the female is a wheaten with white instead of black in the tail and wings, instead of white with salmon breast and golden hackles. Red pyle can be made using the sport/splash from Blue Breasted Red X Blue Breasted Red. They breed true, but need to be bread pure against the ticking to clear up the white. these pics are from OEGBCA site.

Hi all,
Can you tell me what color my Fuzz is? DH was going for "blue" but I am thinking "black??" she seems to be splashy but then she is only 14 weeks and I hear that they change a bit over their first year.

Also if you think roo or pullet? thanks!!

This cockerel is blue. The erect neck and streamers are a give away. I cull out birds that have the black top with a blue bottom because they have to be shown with the blues and usually will not place well in my experience. I like my blue's to look blue all over.

If the males do not have the darker head, hackles, back and saddle, and the females the darker head, then it does not meet the standard.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the andalusian blue coloring actually calls for darker hackles on male and female and darker saddle on the males...

That's what I thought... my blue roo is almost black on top and pretty good definition(for a silkies) between light and dark.
