Silkies Of A Different Color

Pics
Cute picture of "Davie". How is she???

What is wry tail? Well as far as I can describe it is a tail that is carried askew, or sideways.
Sometimes a chicken will be grooming itself and hold it's tail in a sideways position.
But "wry tail" is when the tail is carried that way all the time.
I know you, Cammy, know which pullet this Blue is that I pictured......and you know she isn't wry tailed.
Pictures DO lie.
I only ever had one wry tailed Silkie and I bought her from a very good breeder for a pet.
Still have her, her name is AnnieNoFace, she has never laid an egg.

I have a picture of Davie, the Black Pullet that used to look like Davie Crockett.
Here she is in the last pic from Cammy, Elite Silkies.

I sure didn't see any at your place that looked crooked to me, except AnnieNoFace, and she is cute as a button

. I don't think I would have missed a crooked bird, lol! None of mine that I brought home are crooked either. That gray girl I got from you is gorgeous, huge crest, super heavy foot feathering, and BIG ole "straight" Butt. Davie is doing great, but this heat is really getting to them. The thermometer read 109.6. It's hotter this year than it was last year, and earlier too! I think were in trouble as far as heat goes this year. I have been outside hosing the coops down in hopes that that will help them, but they are still panting like crazy. Their coop is open too. Well, you have seen them. I have them all in the front two coops, the ones that are wide open. It's just toooooo hot out there!

I've thought about pouring bags of ice in their coops. That is what I done for the meaties. They laid right on top of it! One more day and I am done with Abnormal Psych, YIPPIE! I have one more test in that class. I'll think I'll take next summer off

Yep, that's her, but the lighting in that pic makes her look an off color to me, she is actually much darker than shown in that pic. She is black with the green sheen in her wing feathers.

Except that sometimes a wrytailed bird will temporarily straighten out its tail for grooming, lol. Think of it as the bird is pointed south but the tail is headed SE or SW most of the time.

Yep, thats what it looks like.

I always get a kick out of the way they look when they "wag" their tails.
Sometimes you forget there is actually a tail under all that fluff!!!

Ducks are the absolute best at "wagging" their tails. [next to dogs]

Question....is that a genetic thing? I know it's a bad thing so figured it must be genetic too.
Could that have anything with Annie not laying??? Does it really mess them up?

Sorry, off topic of color.

Here's our super sweet Oliver Mongfoot - hatched January 20th, 2011 with two toes curled under his left foot...

We tried straightening with braces to no avail.

He has a slight limp but otherwise you'd never notice

Yes of course he's a pet quality silkie but we love him to bits - he's only 5 months old so still growing and feathering in, specially his poof.

His mom is a white silkie, his dad is a sort of partridge mixed with a hint of frizzle.

Is this a common color? if so, what is it called?

He's too red to be a buff, and he has black feathers in his wings and tail... his wings are barred.

PS: he is bearded but it gets pulled out all the time by his flock mates

He sure looks buff (guinea gold) to me. See how dark his comb is? That is a good thing, but...it indicates that he is e^b/e^b, which is why he has black in his wings and tail.
