I say silkies! They are awesome broodies have great temperments. Will even allow you in and around them and their chicks when they are broody. Beautiful to look at and just right down one of the cutests when they are chicks. They lay small eggs and seem to mature a little slower then other chickens. Hard to tell gender for awhile but thats the only bad things about silkies.

I might be a little Bi'est because I only own silkies..LOL

LOL Loads of help

I have some silkies but not exactly what I want. I've had a horrible time hatching eggs and the silkies I can find here NEVER have poufy heads and they are always non bearded

. So I was looking up cochins and they are pretty and fluffy and seem to be similar to silkies. Of course, I'll not be able to find them here either but was thinking maybe I could order some.....I'm sure dh will be really pleased

Yes my cochins are only slightly less broody!

I have found that (though I adore my silkies) my cochins are a bit more personable.

They just have a little more **something** in their personalities.

Although, some can be annoying little 'heffers' (Funny Chris!).

They are both the most persnickity birds ever. And vain... Whew.

Cochins. Hands down.

They can stand out in the rain and NOT drown. They go into a coop when it rains or is windy. The silkies have YET to figure that out.

Ironically enough...neither the Cochins or the Silkies have gone broody yet...my Langshans have decided they would ALL love little babies under them though...
