Silkies Peeps! Color?

Hey Matt! Nice to see you on here! CUTE CHICKS!

You should bring them to the 4-H meeting next Wednesday! As I said, that chick on the left looks like a light blue or maybe lavender.

Hey Hannah! Thanks for the comments! Maybe I will! That would be Funn. Could I bring them to the show?

Kathy Leininger in VA has pretty Silkies. To me it looks like a Splash and a Blue. I think they would get too cold at a show this time of year. Unless you have enough buddies for them to keep them warm.

I have a splash that looked like that when it was a couple weeks younger than it is now. As it grew, in came the more obvious lighter and darker colors indicating splash.

The lighter one is a splash; the darker one a blue. The background colouring of a splash can vary from nearly pure white to a medium slate. Occasionally the splashing does not show until the bird is two or three months old. Splashes often show a small amount of yellow in their down.

Mine have all hatched out almost pure white, so I didn't think it was splash. My bad sorry

Pretty color baby though.

Thanks for all of your help everyone. Cammy it's ok everyone make mistakes. Can you tell right now if the coloration is going to be light or dark.

Soran Silkies, may I ask what color silkie is in your profile picture?

Agree with Sonoran Silkies...a blue and a splash. They will be ready to show in about 7 months. Silkies take a long time to develop to the point of being competitive in a show.
