ETA: I created a poll. Please vote above. Thanks!
We let our bantam Cochin hatch seven chicks. Hatch date was May 31. These photos were all taken either 8/9 (at 10 weeks) or this morning (a day or so shy of 12 weeks). I’ve labeled the only mixed dates photo collage. The first collage of each of the chicks was taken/made this morning. The rest of the photos with close ups, combs, etc. are from 10 weeks old.
My guesses are:
Blue silkie-male
White silkie-male
Black/brown silkie-female
White & tan Showgirl-female
red in wings & green in tail showgirl-male
Both seramas-females
(This is our third try at getting a Silkie female, and the one I think may be a female has a crooked & crossbill beak. Sigh. So far it’s not getting in the way of eating & growing though. I’ve trimmed it twice.)
What genders do you think we have?
The seramas I originally thought were boy/girl, then I thought both boys because they were red in the face/wattle since around four weeks but not red combs ever, so now I think both girl because they will be 12 weeks Monday/Tuesday and the combs are still orange/yellow and small despite having flushing in the base & their faces.
It’s our first time with seramas, but I read cockerels have large combs early—like 3-5 weeks.
