Silkies skin flakey & peeling

I forgot to ask a few important questions here...how old is he AND is he alone?
If he is alone & young best would be to bring him in the house to keep him warm and to save the $$$ running the lamp.
OR put more coverings around the coop to help keep it warmer.
HOW many birdies do you have???

I cover his coup every night -He is 7 months and is alone right now ( just lost his friend to a dog attack ) -so a few weeks ago I got 4 other silkies that are younger - 3-5months - I'm in process of socializing right now.

I wouldnt recommend using that Frontline on hens. It causes birth defects in dogs. I worked for a breeder and they used Advantage on the females. I have seen some of the defects first hand and its not pretty. But their your birds and it may not do the same for birds.

Thanks bama silkies for the FYI about frontline. I m going talk to a vet I found @ Lsu - I got a list of questions to ask & I'll let u know what he says about these type of products.
Have you ever experienced peeling skin on your silkies?
Tks
Mona

I havent had any problems with that. It could be the heat lamp though. Thats dry heat. I had parrots that were had really dry skin. I used this spray on them I got at petco I think. I think it was bird conditioner but I cant remember the brand. You could mist him with that in the morning when its warmer or could bring him in and spray a couple of times a day til it clears up.
