I have two silkies, and I noticed their beaks are cracked and "dry" looking. We have a show in 2 weeks from tomorrow and I am FREAKING OUT

. What is causing this?! What can I do to fix it? I have vaseline, will that help? Here is a discription of how they are living to see if anything is causing it. They are living in a dog crate on kitty litter that they rub their beaks on, I was putting VetRx on their crests, beaks, and feet. They are also eating layer pellets mixed with flax and millet, and a mash with garlic, oregano, ginger, and their normal food (one has a cough). Here is a picture.

I personally would get them up off the kitty litter. Flax is good for the skin and such... Not sure how well all the other stuff is for them however.... Why are you using the vetRX for? You can take some lotion with lanolin or vit e in it and massage it into the beak...

One has a cough, that is why I was trying the VetRx. Also why I am doing the mash with garlic, oregano, and ginger. I did put down some hay over the litter. How about Vitamin A and D ointment?
