Hi all - Just wanted input regarding my banties.

My two silkies don't have the fluff on top of their heads like I see on other two week old silkies. Are they just slow to fill out?

Also - does my cochin look like a black cochin?

Lastly - does anyone trim the feathers on their feathered banty feet?

Mine get poo stuck to them and they aren't good about cleaning it. I've tried different bedding in the two weeks since I got them but they still step in the fresh poo. (puppy pads to peat moss to wood pellets today to see how that works).

I don't know about the black cochin as this is my first time having cochins too, but I know that my 2 week old silkies are starting to get mohawks now. Some have larger ones that others. I'm just guessing, that once again, it varies by chicken.

Here a couple photos of mine right now.

This is my little cochin. She has coloring like a gold laced sebright

Some Silkies wont have the vaulted skulls, but that doesn't mean they wont have large top knots. Give it some time to fill in. You'll really start seeing things develop around 2 or 3 months of age.
