Silkies: Yay or Nay?

I had no clue. I've only ever hatched silkies once before, so I thought it was a "once size fizs all" kind deal lol. So that means even the white ones with pink skin are still silkies?

BTW, their skin color may darken as they grow. :)

Got one more for you guys! This baby hatched out, and I thought for a second it was a duckling...so I named it Ducky! What color do you think she is? 20210325_191710.jpg 20210325_191650.jpg

I own and raise silkies. I got mine when they were 6 weeks old and they started laying eggs months ago. They hatch today and one of them already cracked and is now peeping. I think you might have silkies but I'm not too sure. Also the 1st could be a rooster looking at the beak. If you keep them you could buy a pure silkie and breed them with yours.

I own 3 silkies. Only 1 is not a purebreed, it is a leghorn and silkie mix. She lays slightly more often and slightly bigger eggs because of her leghorn ancestors. There might be big pros and few cons with having a non-purebreed silkie, as my white silkie hen Peaches is my leghorn x silkie mix because she lays bigger and more eggs
