Silkies

I have a black silkie roo, 2 black silkie hens and 2 black fizzle hens. I have 11 chicks that have hatched. They’re probably 2-3 mos old. 6 are silkies, 2 are frizzles and 3 are smooth/satin. Where did the smooth come from? Did they come from the frizzles?

When you say smooth/satin, you mean regular non-silkied feathers? Are your two frizzle hens also silkies with silkie feathering? If not, that's where the smooth-feathered chicks came from.

If your hens are Frizzled Sizzles (satin) silkies then if you breed your silkie feathered rooster to your hens you will get 25% Frizzled silkie, 25% silkie, 25% Frizzled Sizzle (satin), and 25% smooth sizzle (satin). I have a Blue Frizzled Sizzle rooster and he throws all of these feather types

If your hens are Frizzled Sizzles (satin) silkies then if you breed your silkie feathered rooster to your hens you will get 25% Frizzled silkie, 25% silkie, 25% Frizzled Sizzle (satin), and 25% smooth sizzle (satin). I have a Blue Frizzled Sizzle rooster and he throws all of these feather types
