Hi everyone, we recently had two silkies given us at 3 weeks old. They are coming up to 5 weeks this Friday. However, one of them seems to have constant diarrhoea and when it is going to toilet seems to be pushing what looks like it’s insides out.(sorry for tmi) just wondering if anyone has experienced this and what did you do? Tia

WELCOME SORRY ABOUT YOUR GIRL BUT SILKIES ARE WONDERFUL

I would try maybe giving her probiotics & some yogurt to culture good gut health. Make sure that her vent is clean and not blocked. You can soak her in some warm water if she’s having trouble going. She might have something else going on, is there any blood in her droppings and is she on medicated feed/ or has been vaccinated?

Thanks for your reply, they had a vaccine previous to us having them, not on medication just normal chicken seed which we asked what we needed when we went to the shop.

Seeds are not good for them, if that's what they are. They need a good quality chick crumb or flock raiser. Purina and Nutrena make good feeds. They can't have any seeds or treats without grit.
