Silkies

I can attest to using clean marbles in the water container. I received 28 tiny Silkie chicks 6 weeks ago and everyone is prospering. No drowning or other health issues. Just growing and giving us a great deal of entertainment with their antics. Gotta love Silkies!!!

My Silkie chicks are growing! I will take updated pics of them soon. They are getting so big. But it looks like one of my little vaulted head ones possibly got pecked on its little head. It's not acting right now. poor little thing. It's like it can't keep balance. Sometimes it just falls over for no reason.
I plan on keeping on eye on it and see what happens. It may just be my little "special" Silkie chick now.

The little grey one died yesterday, :(. We got some replacements so hopefully all will be well.

Sorry for your loss

Hi! I just received my 7 Silkie chicks in the mail yesterday. I'm using one of the jar waterers for them and so far 1 has attempted to drown himself and two have succeeded in drowning. The one that lived just crawled in the water and laid down with his head in the water. What can I do to prevent this?
All chickens for there 1st week alive want to drown themselves. After the first week dont worry about it.

Does anybody here have full grown ones that they have found to be supper broody like they describe silkies to be. And if so has anybody ever used them for hatching other chickens eggs.Ive read they will go broody over a rock.

I have the new hovobator genesis with the built in temp/humidier control. It is brand new, but my silkies just know how to be great moms, and boy are they protective.

mine all perished..perhaps they didn't need fish after all..it's all very sad.
