SilkieXCochin Mix Hatching Eggs

These crosses are beautiful! Do you have any pictures of silkie/Cochin Mom and dad? Is it just one pair, or multiple different birds?

It’s multiple different birds. I have silkies, smooth Cochins, frizzled Cochins, and a F1 frizzled Sizzle (got the walnut comb but red skin but he’s a good project bird) I can get pictures next time I go outside. I just got a lavender silkie pair in the mail today that I’m excited about! They’ll be in their own pen so I’ll get purebred lavender silkie eggs. The hen is a showgirl and she’s the first one I’ve ever had!

I do have a bunch of chicks for sale but I don’t think anymore eggs. My last laying hen decided to go broody on me last minute! I also do have a F1 Sizzle frizzle roo for sale and I can possibly pair him up with one of my hens.

All of my birds came from either hatcheries or people with NPIP stock so none of mine have any diseases or parasites ex. I have 2 black hens, 1 splash roo, and 2 Brown roos. 1 of my brown turken hens went broody and the roos have not been mating the others aggressively so I have not had to separate any roos.
In other words... your Turken aren't pure for any specific color and you WILL be illegally shipping birds below the radar. Doesn't matter where they came from originally as far as I know... according to the law.

Doesn't mean there isn't something at your place that hasn't reared it's ugly head yet... Chickens hide things well.

Anyways, I don't mean to be ugly... just try to encourage people to stay within the law instead of ruining it for those of us who do! Keep big brother off our backs as much as possible. :barnie

Anyways, your mix birds are cute and I love Turken! :love

Silkies are excessively broody... but they are far from the best broody's in my experience, half the time not even teaching their chicks to roost before ditching them. My very favorite broody's have been a barred Rock and my Marans hens are the best!

Good luck and best wishes with your flock, they sound like a fun group of birds.

I got my turkens from tractor supply if that helps any. And I don’t know of any hatcheries or anything that sells a certain turken color. They just have a mix of colors together. And I’m in the middle of getting The same NPIP number for all my birds cause as of right now they all have different ones.
