If you have two silkies that came from the same bin, one is white and one is black, and one is much larger than the other one. Is that a good indication that the larger one is a male?

Size isn't always a good indicator. Silkies take a couple months to tell.
I know I was just wondering with the noticeable size difference between the two. The white one is the same size as our others chickens while the little black one is so tiny!! We call her a little hummingbird. She flaps her little wings so fast and she’s just itty bitty 🥰

Yes it’s true, silkies can be very hard to sex, but personally I found it very frustrating when I was new to the little birds and that’s the only response I would get from people when asking questions about them haha.

So basically, YES. I now have 3 silkie roosters among my 9 silkies, and the size difference was the very first thing I noticed for all three when they were chicks.
Yes I know, it’s not ALWAYS enough to go on, but I say go with your gut.
Every time I’ve thought I had a rooster, it was a rooster.
If you have one noticeably larger than all the others, chances are it could be a rooster.
Btw those are some beautiful chicks, and good luck! :love

Yeah the bigger silkie is the only one who will fight with my polish. I’m almost certain the polish is a rooster by the way it struts around and carries itself. It also likes to start fights. We noticed that with our older four roosters.
