I'd say thats a pullet judging solely by the comb....

Aside from the regular stuff you look at to determine boys from girls, i think the look in their eyes is very telling. The girls have more feminine looking eyes, i think. Males look more determined. And so, judging by the eyes, i think your black one is a pullet.

So have you picked the black one up to see if it says "eeeek!" or "Hey man, put me down!"?

And when I do hear them 'talking' they both sound like hens to me. Though the black seems to make a grinding sound.. :|
