Silly broodies

we have a 6 month old that went broody the same day that I put 14 eggs in the gopher-bator. I gave her 4 eggs to sit on and they are on day 18 tomorrow!

My last broody is in the process of hatching. She had one when I checked this morning. So that brings me to a grand total of...(DRUM ROLL PLEASE)...7 hens with chicks under 3 months old!!! I have one with 3 3-month-olds, one with 3 7-week-olds, one with 18 4-week-olds, one with 13 3-week-olds, one with 7 2-week-olds, one with 6 3-day-olds, and the one with new ones

Too bad this wasn't a contest, Cause I would DEFINITELY win!!!
(could really use a contest like this, with chick starter for a prize!

Glenda had four BRs and the one Blue Orp, but the next day, one of the BRs was dead. Either it wasn't strong enough or she smothered or crushed it. Seems like it may have been the last one to hatch and that one did seem a tad weak. So, she has three BRs and one Orp baby and is doing an excellent job of it.

We have a Swedish Blue duck gone missing-broody. We are sure she has a nest somewhere on our property. She is 1 year old. Totally confused. Can It have to do with the length of daylight the same as Spring? I hope she returns. We have coyotes and a bear in the neighborhood.

Yeah 4 of mine are this year's chicks as well, I believe they were hatched between Jan and April. They all went broody about a month after they started laying, except for this last one. She layed 8 eggs and quit!! She wanted to get her batch in early I guess!
