silly kestrel

the other day i was out feeding the goats and just happened to look over at the chickens (all pullets) and a kestrel swooped down, and at the last second he must have decided they were waaaay too big, and up and away he went. thank goodness it wasnt a hawk, cuz they all just stood there looking dumbfounded, like "what was that???" lucky for now, but i need a rooster!!! silly birds.

Maybe he was swooping on a grasshopper, and one of the hens beat him to it!

That's funny, those pullets have got to be so much bigger then he is, kestrels are dinky! They are pretty birds though, one of my favorite raptors.

Hee hee, Kestrels are some of the funniest little birds out there. We had to rescue one from our barn once, got was trapped in the enclosed overhang. It was hot! I think if we had been a few hours later there would have been a dead Kestrel in the barn.
