Was wondering where the dirt on our deck was coming from only to realise these dorks had been playing in the gutters during their outside time!

Any one else have pigeon antics to share feel free!

Looks like they are looking for grit and minerals. Have you got some for them in their coop?

My pigeons were funny (or annoying) because I am sure they used to purposely antagonise my neighbour who hated pigeons. At my old house I had a flock of 6 white fantail X homer pigeons.

They had all the houses in the street to choose from... including my own and the neighbour on the other side, but they always wanted to be on his roof.

Then they would like to fly down to walk about on top of his glass roofed extinction and peck at the glass. The neighbour would come out waving a broom at them and shouting.... they would fly off, but go straight back when he when inside. Again other neighbours had the same glass extensions, but my bird NEVER landed on them.

They even started to perch on his window ledge of his bedroom (never mine or any other houses).. and peck at the glass and flap their wings trying to get in!!!!

Now, I am a considerate person.. and I felt really guilty about this upsetting him. So I kept my birds in their coop and aviary most of the time and did training to get them to fly for exercise, then come back into the trap when I called them. This worked great.... until.... we had a storm... and a roof tile blew off my neighbours roof.

Well, I let my pigeons out to fly and they spotted the hole.. and all made a dash for it.. and started to go into his roof!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was calling them, but they would not come back.

I was lucky the neighbour was out at work. But they would not come down until the next morning, even though they must have been really hungry. I heard him shouting and waving his broom at them at first light when they were playing on top of the glass extension roof again.

I think the pigeons got some kick out of playing this annoy the neighour game, and like the excitement of having a angry man waving a broom at them.

After that he repaired the roof... and with my strict training there was never any more problems thankfully!!! But I did miss being able to watch my birds just hang about in the garden.
