Silly Putty Egg

One of my chickens whose age I do not know (believed to be at least 4 years old), layed what appeared to be an egg yesterday that looked like silly putty. It was rubbery and gloppy with no apparent yolk. Over the past week or so, I noticed broken yolk in the nesting area twice. I separated the babies from the ladies yesterday and was able to watch and find this gloppy thing. I cleaned it up and got it out immediately. These chickens have oyster shells and egg shells available to them at all times; they eat laying crumbles five days a week and fermented feed two days a week. Could this gloppy egg thing be age related? Egg production for the other two ladies has slowed down. I realize the babies should start laying soon, so I really want to figure this out before we end up with egg eaters :(

I'll take a pic if it happens again, but I did do a little reading on lash. Everybody else seems fine and are laying normally. I saw that there is an antibiotic that can be given for lash.
I'd recommend getting a positive ID on whether or not it's lash material first - if it is, you'll probably see another one at some point. Make sure you cut it open and photograph the inside as that's the most definite way to confirm.

If it is lash material you will also need to figure out which bird laid it as antibiotics should only be given to the bird that has the infection.
