So, I have 5 10day old chicks. Thought I'd try and spice up their life a bit by giving them a treat... gone through hard boiled egg, clover, plain yogurt and cut grapes. They had exactly zero interest in all of them. I tried offering in the palm of my hand and also just left in brooder in small dishes for a couple of hours...no interest. Are they too young or do some broods just not do treats? (they have had access to grit for about a week)

And I know they don't "need" treats... just thought it would be fun.

thanks

it can take DAYS before birds realize that something is edible, just depends on when the first adventurous bird dips his beak. Are your chicks the type who run to peck every new item they see or do they hang back until they are positive that it won't eat them? The first group is pretty quick to try a new treat; the second group might take days or weeks before they try something new.

At 10 days old they are pretty young for treats. My chicks were still afraid of everything at that age. Wait a few more weeks and try again. They will love the treats as they get older.
