Silly Question

I know when hand turning you are supposed to mark the eggs but with what? Sharpie? Pencil? Child Safe Marker? Will any of the inks or graphite from the pencil penetrate the shell? Am I over thinking this thing?

I know for fact you can use a pencil. I think you can use sharpies. Maybe someone else will know for sure.

People that are paranoid

use a regular pencil. Its pretty safe to use markers or whatever on them though.

When I think ahead of time to even mark the eggs, I use a colored sharpie.

Pencil wears off if you are marking eggs under a broody hen, though.

I used non permanent markers..................
I f I was not suppose to.....I DID NOT KNOW.
Chicks were fine..............
