Silver Ameraucana??

Is that rust coloring coming in on the shoulders? That's such a male trait... other than the coloring it looks like a pullet. So... idk. Look for pointy saddle feathers, that's a male only thing. They start coming in around 12'ish weeks.

They are right around 3 months old now. This tricky bird. I noticed the coloring this am when I went to feed, but she looks the same as everyone in there, feather wise. Wouldn't there be some red if Roo? Are ee's just hard to sex?

Idk... I don't like that red coming in on the shoulders and slightly on the wing bars... but the face is still a light peachy pink. I don't see any saddle feathers coming in, male or female... Sigh... I want to say pullet, based upon the face... but that rust coming in...

It has been a couple weeks and it still has no red or even a lot of pink at this point. She has really fluffy cheeks, a lot more so then any of the other birds. Can I be confident she's a hen at this point?

It's a cockerel, just a slowly maturing one. The b/w plus rusty blotch is typical of a male color pattern forming.

This is the female version of that color palette. You'll notice that her brown/red is not the same intensity as the rusty blotches you're seeing. If you could see her chest, the coloring encircles her, it isn't just on the wing and back.

I agree with the others. For future reference, here are pictures of true Silver Ameraucanas as juveniles.

The male isn't supposed to have that red. It was a recessive gene from his mother that shouldn't have been there.
