Silver Grey Dorking screams almost nonstop!

I had a group of pullets that were so loud for so long every day that I had to close my windows so I could work.
They got over it, but it lasted for weeks until most of them were laying, then it tapered off

It’s not really loud for me because the chickens are in the back of my property, but the neighbors in back of me have very small yards!

Does she do it when you pick her up? If not that might be why she's squawking so much - so you'll pick her up.

That’s funny because a lot of times I do pick her up so that she shuts up! I thought she goes quiet because she gets scared, lol! She really just makes a lot of noise when she sees me or when I am walking to their run, but she is loud! The closer I get, the louder she gets! It’s embarrassing!

Not something I want to do! They are always running after me as it is! When I do pick one up, the others always peck it when I put it down!

Update on my Dorkings! Today they were driving me crazy because every time I go out in my yard they scream! I decided to take them on a little field trip and took them to my moms house to hang out for an hour in her backyard. They have been really quiet ever since, so I am thinking maybe they just get bored!

Wow, they're really pretty! But they don't call them "Dork" ings for nothing it seems lol! I do understand why my Faverolles are so screamy now though, they've got a bunch of Dorking in there!

Yes, one of them is so loud, it reminds me of a parrot!

Extremely annoying! Today at my moms she was really quiet and quiet after I brought them home. I don’t know why, but it made a difference.

I think this may be a breed trait.. or maybe we both got "lucky", haha. My SG Dorking, Opal, is extremely noisy too, especially when she sees people.
I find it kind of endearing most of the time even though she has perhaps one of the worst voices of any of my girls- I agree that I would call it more of a scream than clucking. It's possible they're a defensive breed- Opal is nice, but she's always right there, keeping an eye on me when I'm gathering eggs or working in the yard and she goes after every sparrow and squirrel that finds its way into the run. In her case at least, I assumed the screaming was just another part of that.

I don't know that it will get any better when she lays, however. Mine has been laying for a month or so now and her level of noise is about the same.
