Silver laced Wyandotte 9 weeks

Heard this breed is very difficult to tell because rose comb comes in early. Wattle is very small so don’t see this as a definite. What other things to look for in growth?
Yes, I have heard that it is hard to tell until they are 12 weeks old or so because they all get pink or red in there comes early. I have a SLWyandotte that it is six weeks old and looks exactly like the OP’s picture.

Surferchickin is right. Silver Laced Wyandottes all develop rose combs early, and both sexes develop pronounced and pointed cowl feathers at 9 weeks. Here is one from this spring's brood that we wondered about. "Buster" was larger, with the earliest comb. Long pointed cowl feathers. Here is Buster at 9 weeks:

Any time I dropped down to take photos, Buster would attack the camera:

Roo, you might think. Well, Buster just laid her first egg this week. Wyandottes grow fast compared to other popular breeds, and both sexes develop longish cowl feathers. Sexing them at 9 weeks is pretty dificult, if not impossible So you really won't know until one develops saddle feathers and crows. Yours is most likely a pullet.

Thank you as going crazy literally changing mind every week if male or female. Pretty but stressful breed not for a beginner it seems.

Wellll, don't give up on her just yet. SLW's are actually a terrific breed to keep. I have had at least one since I started keeping poultry, when I got my first own little farm. They are very low maintenance, are friendly, curious, not very noisy, don't fly well, can serve as layers or meat chickens, and seldom go broody. I currently have 10 in my own personal flock. I raise, and sell, other breeds, and can honestly say that when I have any Wyandottes for sale, they go quickly. You may read about them not doing well in heat, but our summers here in Central Florida feature 100+ days with jungle like humidity, and none of mine have ever suffered from this. All in all, they are easy to raise and keep chickens, with very friendly personalities and great with kids.

Enjoy your girl, and let me know when she lays her first egg!

Get better clearer pictures and not during dawn and dusk lighting.
But it does look like a cockerel.

My Wyandotte use to be friendly till she started laying, she will come to me when I call her but she won't let me pick her up or touch her.

I stared at these pics for a good 10 minutes trying to decide. The only thing that made me sway one way or the other were the white patches on the wing bows and the size of the comb in a couple pics.

I agree that updated pics should be posted in a couple weeks.
You appear to be on something there. The lacing looks roo-ish. Still early but I'm thinking roo
