Has anyone else crossed SLW with BA and gotten BA looking chicks? I have another broody hen so I put 3 more BA eggs under her... hope I get 3 more black pullet chicks!!

Yes - but can't find the pics just now.... First cross with either SLW or GLW over BA will come out looking pretty much like an Australorp with rose comb (unless your SLW or GLW carries the single comb gene). The leg color in mine turned yellowish with age (as opposed to the black aussie legs) but they were all black.

Cool! I've got to get out there and get some pics of her (I think it's a her

). I got her mother, Betty, at 5 weeks old and this chick, BB (stands for Betty's baby), now looks just like Betty did when I got her, black legs and all.

Y'all have me curious as to if I've guessed the mothers of some of the other mutts we hatched out this year. Could this happen...

SLW + Silver Lakenvelder =

SLW + EE =

SLW + NHR, or Golden Comet =

picture 2 is possible
picture 3 is possible

Now Picture 1 I would say was out of you EE (Easter Egger)
A cross of a Silver Laced Wyandotte and a Silver Lakenvelder should give you Silver Laced offspring.. (The lacing being incomplete or not very good)

Robin'sBrood :

The 3 chicks in picture one came out of... 1 green egg, 1 white egg, and 1 brown egg.

What type of comb is on the Lakenvelder?
