Okay anybody that have had or currently do have, when you SLW got their comb was it pink or red. Everyone says that mine is a boy because the little bit of comb is red but even the hens I see have very red combs, so to everybody that knows SLW what color does their comb come in?

My SLW girls' combs didn't get red at all until just a few weeks before they started to lay.

They were yellow for quite a while, and then turned pink but still small, and finally really red only just before laying age around 20 weeks.

If your SLW is not at least 16 wks and the comb is already really red, I'm thinking boy... can you post a pic?

I feel your pain. My 2 youngest kids picked out what were supposed to be all pullets 3 weeks ago. Here is my son's 8 week old SLW -- roo(??) -- If so, we're going to have to return him.

Not only that, but s/he is not much larger than our 2 Millie Fleur bantams (pictured) who are 7 weeks old, and about 1/2 the size of our two 8 week old standards (compare to the black Australorp in picture #4), so I'm suspecting that not only is it a he, but a banty SLW as well.

Anyone care to comment?
