I have a silver laced wynadotte that is about 3 months old. I have always thought it was a hen but now having doubts as the feathers are changing and almost look like that are loosing their pattern and colour. Has never crowed or made strange noises. It is the most beautiful natured chicken I'm really hoping it's a hen?

It is odd isn't it, that's why I'm so confused. I have picked up "her" feathers for a closer look but couldn't get a photo, but her feathers are still very much rounded they just look pointed and more like saddle feathers because they have lost their colour on the tips giving them the pointed appearance. I am stumped. I love her so much but unfortunately can't have roosters so I am really hoping it isn't.

Someone else will confirm it sooner or later, I’ll keep my fingers crossed I’m just seeing incorrectly and she’s a she. Usually when I see roosters that age they have MUCH less lacing and more solid colors

My guess is that it's a cockerel.
It's saddle feathers are pretty pointy and it has thicker legs.
